Students enjoy gift of books to end 2011
Thanks to members of East Lake FUMC, students at both P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program locations enjoyed new books for Christmas. Santa, Mrs. Claus their elves were able to visit the Dunedin location. The students made a Christmas craft to bring home to their families. Click here for more photos.
2011 Multiplication Tournament
The program hosted its first Multiplication Tournament during an assembly held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in Dunedin. Pairs of students from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade battled in front of all of the students for the trophy! Congratualtions to 5th graders, Viridiana and Diana! Click here to see more pictures.
Share the Dream Fundraiser
Two fifth grade students from the P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program attended UM Cooperative Ministries’ “Share the Dream” fundraiser on November 17, 2011 at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Viridiana and Santiago’s essays, describing their experiences in the P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program, were the winning essays. All fourth and fifth grade students submitted an essay to the “contest”. P.A.S.S. Students Receive Awards
Many students that attend the P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program recently received awards from Dunedin Elementary School. Congratulations to Miguel, Alex, Alexandria, Abigail, Selena and Epifanio. Click here to see more pictures.
Boy Scouts to Start Next Week!
Yehudy Diaz recently spoke to the boys at the P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program about scouting and about being a bi-lingual, Latino male. He told them how important it was for them to be literate in both English and Spanish. He shared how important the Boy Scouts were to him while he grew up in New York.
September News
The P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program opened its doors to 55 students on September 6, 2011. The students love their new location at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin. Enrollment is up 17% from last year. Girl Scouts are meeting on Wednesdays, during enrichment, and we hope to have a Boy Scout Post started soon!
