Yehudy Diaz recently spoke to the boys at the P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program about scouting and about being a bi-lingual, Latino male.  He told them how important it was for them to be literate in both English and Spanish.  He shared how important the Boy Scouts were to him while he grew up in New York.

The thirty-one boys that attend the P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program in Dunedin will become Boy Scouts next week thanks to donations made by members of East Lake UMC.
The twenty-four girls in the P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program attend Girl Scouts each week.

The P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program opened its doors to 55 students on September 6, 2011.  The students love their new location at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin.  Enrollment is up 17% from last year.  Girl Scouts are meeting on Wednesdays, during enrichment, and we hope to have a Boy Scout Post started soon!

The P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program also opened its doors on September 19, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Clearwater.  A first and second grade class are being conducted at this location.  We expect to fill all 16 spaces by the end of October.
A “Golf for Education” fundraiser will take place on October 29, 2011 to support the Clearwater program.  If you are interested in supporting this event, please contact Greg Ward at 727-215-9074 or FUMCGOLF2010@yahoo.com.
